Nikolay Lebedev

Film director, screenwriter

Biography

Nikolai Igorevich Lebedev (born November 16, 1966) is a Russian film director and screenwriter.

From the very first full-length film by Nikolai Lebedev it became clear that a film director appeared, possessing a rare ability to create a highly artistic and fascinating movie. The "serpentine source" was greedily watched by grateful spectators; eagerly praised and, also willingly, cursed some colleagues in the film community. That is, it was the debut of a brightly gifted artist with a strong personal position.

With each new film Nikolay Lebedev confirms that the basis of his creative position remains unchanged. He always creates stories about a hero who experiences the onslaught of passions - his or others'. It happens that the hero does not withstand this onslaught and is captured by selfish fantasies, which almost leads to his catastrophe, as in the film "Fan." Or the true passionate love conquers the destructive pressure from the outside, as in the Phonogram of Passion.

Over time, in the work of Nikolai Lebedev, the theme of finding personal freedom and preserving one's own dignity and human decency sounds brighter. His characters actively resist the invasion of society into their inner world, go against the imposed rules of conduct in the world outside. This conflict can be called a fundamental one in the Phonogram of Passion, in the Wolfhound of the Gray Hounds, in Legend No. 17 and in the Crew.
